Joshua Tree National Park Association Presents Beneath the Desert Sky: A Night of Music Curated by David Catching, Benefiting Joshua Tree National Park

Twentynine Palms, CA, June 1, 2023 – The Joshua Tree National Park Association (JTNPA) is thrilled to announce “Beneath the Desert Sky,” an extraordinary night of music curated by David Catching, owner of Rancho de la Luna Studio in Joshua Tree. This special event will take place on Saturday, August 19, 2023, at the renowned Pappy + Harriet’s, a legendary venue known for its intimate and electrifying performances.

“Beneath the Desert Sky” promises to be an unforgettable night of music, featuring performances by Mojave Lords, Flames of Durga, and C’est Claire Music.

Mojave Lords, a Desert Stoner Rock band, was born at Rancho De La Luna recording studio in Joshua Tree and has gained acclaim for their distinctive sound. With a lineup including talented musicians such as Barrett Martin, Brian O’Connor, Gene Trautmann, Chris Goss, Christopher Thorn, and more, Mojave Lords will take the stage with their signature blend of desert rock. Rancho De La Luna recording studio, celebrating its 30th anniversary this year, has played a pivotal role in shaping the music landscape. Founded in 1993 by Fred Drake and David Catching, the studio has become a creative haven for renowned artists like Iggy Pop, Foo Fighters, Queens of the Stone Age, PJ Harvey, and many others. Operating solely under the stewardship of David Catching since 2002, the studio continues to be a hub of artistic expression.

Flames of Durga, a female-fronted rock ‘n’ roll trio, will ignite the stage with their electrifying live performances. Founded by identical twin sisters Béah and Cecilia Romero, Flames of Durga’s music channels the fierce feminine power embodied by the Hindu goddess Durga. Their debut album, produced by David Catching and recorded at Rancho de la Luna studio, was released on March 24th.

Adding to the lineup, C’est Claire will captivate the audience with her soulful melodies and heartfelt lyrics. Claire Wadsworth, a singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist known by her stage name C’est Claire, is also the co-owner of the highly acclaimed high desert restaurant La Copine. With a unique musical style, Claire’s performances reflect her deep connection to the desert and her creative spirit.

Doors for “Beneath the Desert Sky” will open at 5:30 PM, with the show commencing at 7:00 PM. By attending this event, music enthusiasts will not only enjoy an unforgettable evening but also contribute to the preservation and conservation efforts of Joshua Tree National Park.
