Joshua Tree National Park Association presents An Evening with Barrett Martin: A Captivating Musical Journey in Support of Joshua Tree National Park
Twentynine Palms, CA, May 25, 2023 – The Joshua Tree National Park Association (JTNPA) is thrilled to announce a once-in-a-lifetime event, “An Evening with Barrett Martin,” set to take place on Saturday, August 5, 2023, at the stunning Indian Cove Amphitheater in Joshua Tree National Park. This extraordinary performance promises to captivate audiences with an enthralling combination of storytelling, film, and live musical performances by the esteemed Grammy-winning producer, author, and drummer, Barrett Martin.
Barrett Martin’s career spans over three decades, during which he has contributed his musical prowess to over 120 albums and film soundtracks worldwide. Notably known for his work with iconic bands such as Screaming Trees, Mad Season, and Tuatara, Barrett’s talent and versatility have made him an influential figure in the music industry. His impressive repertoire also includes collaborations with renowned artists such as R.E.M., Queens of the Stone Age, and blues legend Cedell Davis.
This exclusive one-man show will take attendees on a mesmerizing journey through various musical genres, while Barrett shares captivating stories from his vast experiences around the globe. From the depths of the Peruvian Amazon to the soul-stirring melodies of the Mississippi Delta, Barrett’s performances promise to transport the audience to enchanting destinations through the power of music.
The event will commence with a meet and greet and cocktail hour at the Joshua Tree National Park Visitor Center in Twentynine Palms, starting at 6:00 PM. Attendees will then board buses, provided by JTNPA, which will transport them to the scenic Indian Cove Amphitheater within Joshua Tree National Park. The concert will commence at 7:30 PM, immersing the audience in an unforgettable musical experience that will continue until 9:00 PM. Attendees will be safely transported back to the Joshua Tree National Park Visitor Center after the concert. To ensure a seamless experience for all attendees, a detailed email containing instructions will be sent closer to the event date.
JTNPA and park staff are committed to minimizing the impact of amplified sound on wildlife and other visitors. In accordance with acoustic monitoring, the previous JTNPA concerts at Indian Cove adhered to the 60 dB threshold, the maximum permitted in a park setting. However, the concert could be heard up to a mile away, and ongoing noise level monitoring will help shape the future of park concerts.
The proceeds from this event will directly benefit the preservation and conservation efforts of Joshua Tree National Park, ensuring that future generations can enjoy its remarkable landscapes and biodiversity.
